HEIC, KTX and WebP Image File Converter
This script is designed to convert KTX files to PNG; also, HEIC and WebP files to JPG. Files are identified by file-extension.
The script is only intended for use with KTX files of the type created by iOS and macOS. Other types of KTX file may cause the script (and EnCase) to crash.
HEIC conversion is a little slow and won't contain additional image-data that may be present, e.g., burst images. That said, image-metadata - including GPS data - will be preserved.
The examiner should note that a reported bug in EnCase 20.3.0.214 may prevent certain tagged-items from being parsed. This issue seems to be restricted to artifacts (records) rather than entries.
Output is by way of a logical evidence file, which can be added to the current case automatically if so desired.
Progress can be monitored via the console.
